Who the heck is Magic City Mac Repair, anyway?
Magic City Mac Repair is composed of one guy: Chad. Chad has been working on Apple products for over a decade, formerly managing shops in Denver and Boulder, CO before successfully running Missoula Mac Repair for several years. Happy life circumstances lured Chad to Billings, where he re-opened his independent Apple repair shop.
Anything I should know before coming in?
We’re a one man operation. So occasionally, we may be closed for vacation, or just a day for regular life maintenance. Also, you may run into a ‘back in 20 minutes’ sign for lunch or something.
We’re a walk in shop, so calling ahead isn’t necessary, but also isn’t a bad idea.
So… you’re not Apple Authorized?
No, and proudly so. Apple has strict policies on what they will and won’t repair, how old of machines they will work on, etc, and they force Authorized shops to adhere to these restrictions. The end result is planned obsolescense: Apple tells folks that some things ‘can’t’ be fixed, or they set a price that obviously makes it not worth fixing… when the reality is that Apple has determined it’s better for them financially not to fix it.
We have no such restrictions, we will look at all devices regardless of age, offer services that Apple won’t (such as liquid cleaning or data recovery, used or refurbished parts to save money) and most importantly, we will give you an honest assessment on if devices are worth repairing or not, based on their market value and estimated practical lifespan.
